10:15 am        Ideas & Tools to Assist in Board Hiring

According to the ESIX Annual Benchmark Survey, around 30% of responding corporate executive recruiting functions are involved in board hiring. We expect this trend to grow and therefore our members need more information to be most effective. We will be joined by Belen Gomez, VP of Strategic Initiatives, & Sahar Hassan, Head of Board Services, both of board intelligence company Equilar, who will describe what trends they are seeing in board hiring, governance and compensation, and to share with us a tool which could help our functions pipeline for their own Board-level talent.

1:30 pm          The Four Common Leadership Traits of Senior Female Executives

It is hard enough to find & hire senior female executives in the first place. Once we hire them we certainly want to make sure they are successful, not least because it helps pave the way for other talented women. To provide us insights and guidance in this endeavor, we are lucky enough to hear from Joann S Lublin, a Pulitzer Prize winner and longtime career columnist for the Wall Street Journal. Her book, "Earning It: Hard-Won Lessons from Trailblazing Women at the Top of the Business World," outlines the paths to success of 52 senior women, most of whom are experienced CEOs of public companies. Based on her book interviews, Joann gleaned the four common leadership traits that helped these executives reach top management. She will share these with us -- along with her thoughts on how we can hire for these traits because they are critical for the success of both women and men.
